AmberSkies is no stranger to the world of creation and nerd-dom! She has been involved in the creative arts since she was just 5 years old, and was raised in her father's family-owned "Lan Gaming" internet arcade. Here she became one with the world of online games, anime, and tabletop gaming/miniatures-- where she spent every day raiding at 11 years old on World of Warcraft, or beating men thrice her age in Magic the Gathering. (All while spam Watching Sailor Moon and guzzling down all the ramen bowls she could get her grubby little hands on!)
In the last 8 years Amber has transcended to the professional cosplay stage and taken on elaborate and complex costuming builds, working hand in hand with amazing companies such as Marvel Studios, Fox Entertainment, and the Walt Disney Company.
She uses her arsenal of creative skills to transform herself into fantastic heroes and beasts across all fandoms-- and specializes in detailed prosthetic/makeup work and Armor/Prop Building. She has created from scratch notable characters such as Goddess Té Ka (Moana), Nebula (Guardians of the Galaxy), Dr. Lazarus (Galaxy Quest), Sergeant Calhoun (Wreck it Ralph), the Forest Spirit (Princess Mononoke), and countless more.
She has professionally Competed and won first place/Best in Show at Disney's D23 Expo, San Diego Comicon International, Phoenix Fan Fusion, Long Beach Comic Expo, and many more. She now spends her days mostly as an experienced judge and panelist for cosplay and creative endeavors at various Expos and Conventions!
Amber continues to grow her online presence via her beautiful painted fan art pieces-- available for sale and custom commission through her business AmberSkies Creations on Etsy. She continues to appear as a guest at west coast as well as nationwide conventions where she continues to share with the world her original art, intricate costume designs, and all her various crazy creations!
Amber loves crushing hugs, big smiles, and seeing all her beautiful friends at various cons and events-- all while using her art and skills to teach others, inspiring them to never stop creating and to love her cosplay community as much as she does. She lives for building others up, and spreading positivity and a sprinkle of cosplay sunshine wherever she wanders!
Roger is a cosplayer from the San Francisco Bay area. He has been cosplaying for five years, and creating costumes for almost 15 years. His favorite time of the year is Halloween. His favorite characters to cosplay are Marvel and mecha. He’s currently cosplaying Juggernaut X-men Sentinel, The Hulk, Red Hulk, Thanos, Bumble Bee, Optimus Prime, and War Machine. Recently completed cosplays are Mazinger Z and cosplays in the works? It's a secret.
My name is Michael Ray and I am a cosplayer and photographer from the East Bay. I have been a cosplayer for four years and a photographer for the last 12. Cosplay has also dipped into my photography world as well, so I try to do a little bit of both during an event. My love for cosplay grew during season seven of Games of Thrones. As my first suit, I chose the evil villain: the Night King! Every time I wore the suit at conventions, I felt people's love and passion for an adored character.
That popularity fueled my passion to try out other characters. I have since cosplayed War Machine, Iron Patriot, Iron Man, and now my newest cosplay is Bumblebee. I have two more cosplays in the working stage and I am looking forward to showing them off later this year.
Noel Serafin is a full-time carpenter, father, husband, breakdance instructor, and cosplay enthusiast. Motivated by his son, Noel has over five years of experience portraying 19 characters from anime, Marvel, and DC. He loves to perform the art of breakdancing with costumes that allow movement. He says, "Having the opportunity to make someone's day by cosplaying their favorite childhood character is what makes this craft truly rewarding".
Sara Moni grew up in Phoenix and had a fascination with fantasy and sci-fi. In high school, she taught herself to sew by sewing together t-shirts, which would become an introduction into creating cosplay outfits.
Sara started cosplaying regularly in 2010 and would attend various conventions and events. In 2012, she was discovered at Phoenix Comicon by the charity group, the Arizona Avengers. She is still an active member in the organization, visiting libraries, schools, hospitals for children.
In addition to cosplaying, Sara is a model and has appeared in multiple magazines. Her goal with costuming is to shed light on lesser known characters and do unique things with costuming to keep it fresh.
Known as “Cap,” John Jarvis is a northern California cosplayer and a dancing trio with Simba and Kyle. The trio met while visiting evacuation shelters to spread cheer during the 2017 Santa Rosa fire, and later became active in the community as a group, attending several events for various causes and even receiving a few local awards for their efforts. Cap has had the pleasure of participating in and judging at several comic conventions throughout California. During the pandemic, he turned his focus towards spreading smiles on social media, and he can’t wait to see everyone in person as things return to normal!
Kyle Baxter aka Santarosa Spidey has been cosplaying for about four years, and it has been one of the greatest things he’s ever experienced! He enjoys judging and performing at various conventions, and he loves the cosplay community because they are some of the most supportive people. They make him feel welcome no matter what, so he wants to give that same feeling to others. “I want to inspire people to be themselves,” he said, “because who they are is awesome, and I want them to see that, too.”
Simeon Van Gerpen a.k.a. Simba—famous on social media for cosplaying with John Jarvis and Santarosa Spidey—started cosplaying just three years ago. He is passionate about content creation, and performance judging at cosplay competitions, which he has done at several conventions. Simba hopes to inspire future cosplayers with his performances because anything is possible. His philosophy? “Work hard and hone your skills; be professional at all times while having the time of your life.”
Lady Deadpool Fresno is from Fresno, California and is a seasoned gamer/beta tester, and cosplayer. She leads the way with her unique take on an iconic character known as Lady Deadpool. She has traveled all over California to attend and appear at comic conventions. She started cosplaying in September of 2018. She's a cosplay model for Grateful Photography.
From 2018 to 2019, she attended over 63 comic conventions! She has been in the newspapers many times. She has a huge love for people and animals, and feels truly fulfilled when "kids" of all ages love her personality, compassion, and the fun way she brings her character to life.
MAXIMUM EFFORT is strong with geekiness in this one. She cosplays as Lady Deadpool, Female Venom, Ada Wong from Resident Evil, and Death from the comic book Sandman. She has been a special guest, judge, and featured cosplayer at many conventions and private events. She has 3,100+ followers on Facebook and 1,000+ on Instagram.
Playing a character has always been a part of Deadpool Fresno's life.
Acting at a young age wasn't the only thing that put him on a course to where he is today. A love for theater, comics, video games, and above all movies, were a great escape and his happy place. He has found that it wasn't enough just to have a good day himself, but that life was about helping everyone around him to enjoy themselves and be entertained as well. There's just something about making a dream come true through a favorite character!
Cosplay was introduced to him in 2011 when the only comic convention he knew about was the big one in San Diego, though he soon found out that community conventions were all over the United States. The thought of showing off a favorite character was exciting, and also scary. The judgement that can come with it is what scared me the most.
Here's a little secret: at first, Deadpool Fresno is still the guy who gets nervous, stumbles on words, and forgets what he was talking about. Don't believe that he never gets stage fright. It doesn't go away; you just have to breath through it and lean in.
