    Creative Team

Parent Company: Savoury's Good Earth Cuisine

Holy Grail Multiverse is designed by an Executive Chef, artist, and entrepreneur; a Certified Meeting Professional and artist; a technical writer and photographer; a former restaurant owner and sushi chef; and other catering and convention services professionals from Savoury's, the parent company of HGM.

Here's a little about each of us.

    Brad Toles, Founder

Brad Toles may be best known as a highly decorated chef, but his accomplishments in the face of adversity are even more impressive. His curriculum vitae reads like a novel, but the facts, and his awards, prove that this is one creative and perseverant man. Here are some facts you won’t find on his resume:

    • Brad changed school 16 times before graduating from high school.
    • He began his career as a dishwasher. Toles used the skills he learned in his hard-knocks life to adapt and learn from those around him. Even today, there is no job he won't do, working side-by-side with his team to get the job done.
    • It wasn’t long before he set his sights on becoming an executive chef, welcoming mentorship from Chefs George Goodrich C.E.C., Roland Henin C.M.C., Raymond Hoffmeister C.M.C., Walter Leible C.M.C.
    • At the age of 24, he achieved the credentials of Certified Executive Chef. Carrying that motivation forward, he was to become youngest member of the US Culinary Olympic Team, earning a gold medal for his remarkable gastronomic abilities.
    • Developing unique skill sets is a Toles standard. Self taught through trial and error, he created amazing edible sculptures to further embellish his presentations.
    • As a member of the US Culinary Olympic Team, he traveled to Europe to take on the best of the best. His US Team ranked #1 in North America and fifth in the world.
    • His relentless drive and brazen spirit pushed him to solicit the help of major food manufacturers to help create the LA Vets Initiative homeless food service program. This program is still running today.
    • In 1996, Toles left corporate America and began his own catering company, Savoury’s Good Earth Cuisine, out if his garage. Today Savoury's Good Earth Cuisine celebrates 23 years as the in-house food and beverage operator for the Palm Springs Convention Center, serving banquets and conventions of up to 3000 with high-end, custom food presentations.
    • In September 2005, Toles and his hand picked team went to Louisiana and created a program to feed 25,000 people who had been impacted by Katrina. Toles was to spend time away from his operations to help those in need, a constant theme in his life.
    • In another expression of his passion for art, the reading of the introduction of a book about 1968-71 Mopars--vehicles built under the Chrysler Motors Corporation mantle--so intrigued him that he began restoring vehicles of a special model. His finished vehicles have been the subject of featured stories in some of the most prestigious collector car magazines in America including Hot Rod, Car Craft, Mopar Muscle and Mopar Action.

The founding force behind Holy Grail Multiverse, Toles found initial inspiration through the comic book characters that befriended him in his youth. In these colorful pages, he would read about super heroes who fought for justice and defended the weak. That unselfish mindset is evident in the way he runs his operations today. Spurred on by his friends and his track record of success, HGM was born. By surrounding himself with mind-like-kind-like friends and business contacts, he looks to push HGM's concepts and conventions around the United States and throughout the world. In light of HGM's initial efforts and the impressive outpouring of interested fans, it looks like Toles' childhood dreams are becoming a reality.

    Sunny McNair, Founding Partner

Sunny was born and raised outside of the United States. An artist since her earliest memories, she traveled the globe as a singer and songwriter, performing in Japan, India, Jordan, Gaza and the West Bank, Israel, Iraq, Turkey, Thailand, and the United States. She filled countless sketch books as a girl, and has also tried her hand at acrylics and photography, inventing a type of photography called "morphography," which she exhibited in Palm Springs.

In 2003, Sunny moved to the US, entering the hospitality industry in Southern California, and earning her CMP in 2014. After working as a Group Sales Manager for some years, Sunny went full blast for two seasons in the food-and-beverage big leagues, and is now fully invested in manifesting Holy Grail Multiverse.

She plays guitar, writes poetry, and is currently writing a book about the story of her life. She lives with her son in Palm Springs, California.

    Taiga Abe, Founding Partner

We are the product of our experiences, both intended and unintended. For Taiga, Japanese ancestry can be credited as the source of both stimuli. His links to Japan run deep, including the finely honed culinary skills. The art of sushi was first introduced to Taiga's life through Nagare--those wandering sushi chefs--who would nurture his talents to create culinary artwork, culminating in him becoming owner/operator of the Happy Sushi Robata restaurant for over a decade. Blending the skills he learned earning a BA in Illustration from Cal State Long Beach and those garnered through food presentation, he would learn balance, the most critical ingredient.

As with all of us, family would have an impact on Taiga's early life. His love of gunpla (gundam plastic models) is no casual passion. Taiga's late father would play a key role in demonstrating the intricacies of their assembly and inherent beauty. Each plastic scale model would release a new form that would only reveal its true meaning once complete. Manga and anime were to offer many similar joys. Taiga points to his experiences watching his favorite animes: Patlabor, Urusie Yatsura, and Red Eyes. Film would give him great gifts including a love of diverse thought, playful cosplay characters, and interest in such diverse studies as Ancient Man and Cryptozoology.

These elements, combined with his dedication to hard work and ability to engage with others, make him well suited to be a founding partner of the Holy Grail Multiverse operation. His contributions and clarity of purpose have already made their impact on not only the structure of HGM but also on his fellow enthusiasts.

    David Flores, Founding Partner

David loves anime, comics, and video games, and spearheading HGM’s cosplay efforts. Like many of us, David had a less-than-optimal childhood, so for David, anime, comics, and video games were more than just entertainment, they were an escape from the difficult reality of his life. Always learning and growing, David is driven to succeed so his children can have a better life; he shares his love of fantasy with his daughters. Over the years, he has written a collection of poetry, and hopes to someday publish a series of fantasy novels.

We are defined not by our challenges, but by how we overcome them. Owing to what he has overcome, David has a soft spot for those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as those who have suffered abuse as a child. He also wants to assist in the rehabilitation of ex-cons. With Savoury’s since 2018, he is finding fulfillment in the simple things, like feeding people.

Today, David hopes to improve his fantasy writing skills, learn about Ancient Man, and keep up with the quickly evolving cosplay and gaming arena. Embracing his role as a founding partner of HGM, David feels that each Grail has a lot to offer those who engage, even more than might be evident at first.

    Katrina Starchild, Padawan Viceroy

After falling from the night sky, Katrina Starchild made a home on Maui with her family of magicians, where she performed in their nightly magic show "Kupanaha" from the age of seven. Being center stage was fun for her, but it was the work she did behind the scenes that made her shine.

In 2010, Katrina swapped the stage for the screen, and moved to star-studded Hollywood, California. After working special events for Disneyland, she finally found her happy place on set as a First Assistant Director, sprinkling her stardust on everything from music videos, shorts and commercials to million-dollar feature films. After 7+ years in the film industry, her role evolved from AD to Producer, co-creating network television shows and independent films.

Katrina has always pursued multiple passions at once to keep herself busy and has credits in acting, dancing, art directing, swim instructing, stilt-walking, and even Chinese plate-spinning. She is also currently a student at the University of Metaphysics. She is most proud of her accomplishments as a published photographer, booking consistent work for companies such as Nascar, Facebook, & Food Network.

Most recently, Katrina had worked as the Programming Coordinator for RuPaul's DragCon, eventually leaving due to the pandemic. That storm came with a silver-lining however, and freed Katrina up for the chance of a lifetime: building Holy Grail Multiverse Con 2021.
